NCH iPhone and Android Update The Express Dictate iPhone App is here

Update: Express Dictate for Android is now available. You can Get Express Dictate for Android from Google Play or Amazon

Pocket Dictate iPhone Dictation SoftwareThats right, I am finally making good on my promises of NCH iPhone applications. (July 2009: NCH Starting development for iPhone)

Pocket Dictate has been approved by Apple and is officially available and free to download through iTunes for your iPhone, making our range of digital dictation software nearly complete. You can use any of the applications in our dictation suite to record your dictations almost anyway you choose:

Express Dictate for your Mac or PC for easy computer dictation. You can also use Express Dictate with a portable dictation device, and simply dock and send your dictation files when you are back at your desk.

Pocket Dictate is the mobile version of Express Dictate which can be downloaded for your Pocket PC, Windows Mobile or Palm OS devices--and now your iPhone as well. A Droid version is currently under development, which will round out all your portable devices.

Web Dictate lets you set up a web dictation server so you can log in and record dictation files anywhere with a microphone and an internet connection.

With Dial Dictate, you can set up a phone-in dictation system, so that you can have a dedicated phone number to call whenever you need to make a dictation.

With all of these different choices you would be hard pressed to not find a solution that will work well for you.

So whats next for NCH apps?
As I mentioned, Pocket Dictate for Droid is on its way. We are also planning on porting PitchPerfect Instrument Tuner, WavePad Audio Editor, RecordPad Sound Recorder, and TempoPerfect Metronome Software for both the iPhone and Android. Those will keep us busy for a little while longer, but Im sure there will be even more to add to the list after that, so if there are any of our products that you are dying to have on your phone, or if you have any feedback on Pocket Dictate be sure to let us know.

Dice game grand prize: Toyota 86. Want to join?
It's the mid-autumn festival again! It's the season where those with Chinese culture or have adapted to the Chinese culture play the annual dice game. This game is simple as you roll (6) six dice in a bowl and the prize will depend on the outcome. To give you a basic idea, having the number "4" makes you a sure winner (unless the prizes in the category you won runs out).

In The Mail This Nonviolent Stuffll Get You Killed How Guns Made The Civil Rights Movement Possible

The book isnt out yet; I received a galley proof from Basic Books.  It looks quite interesting. Most curious of all, it is by Charles E. Cobb. Jr. "Visiting Professor at Brown Universitys Department of Africana Studies and a former field secretary for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee."  I suspect that he has first-hand experience about what he writes!

It tickles my ego a bit to think that I am important enough that they wanted me to read it and write a cover blurb for it.

I need to get a review of Stephen P. Halbrooks Gun Control in the Third Reich: Disarming the Jews and "Enemies of the State" written for PJMedia this weekend, and start reading Cobbs book.

The Lighthouse Marina Subic Resort Review

It's another long weekend and since we didn't want to be stuck at home doing house chores, we decided to go to one of my favorite out-of-town destinations -- Subic! You might wonder why I love that place when in fact, there's nothing much to do there. Well, that's the beauty of it! If you are a first timer visiting Subic, you might want to go to those touristy places like Zoobic Safari, Ocean Adventure and a few more. Since I've visited Subic place countless times already, I am now after some R&R.
What I really like here is the environment and the city surroundings. Their beaches are nothing like the white beaches of Boracay. Their attractions aren't like the ones in Singapore or Tokyo. But this city itself is unique! Subic freeport is a very peaceful, disciplined and laid back town. It's where you can feel a little bit of America just 2 hours outside Manila. In short, Subic is the perfect getaway for an overnight or two.

Use the Module in VB NET

Use the Module in VB NET

Is sometimes useful to have functions or variables available everywhere in a Visual Basic project. You could use a module to do so. It is not complicate. There is no class creation.  And you could easily use this technique in VBA or VB6 (Visual Basic Application, Visual Basic Enterprise VB6, …) Module could also be used to share information or objects between classes.
Start creating a project. I choose the Windows Forms Project. Here is a sample of form1.

<summary>
put a Timer without the Visual Basic form Designer
</summary>
<remarks></remarks>
Public Class Form1
    Private WithEvents oTimer As System.Windows.Forms.Timer

    Private Sub Form1_Load(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
        oTimer = New System.Windows.Forms.Timer
        oTimer.Interval = 1000
        oTimer.Enabled = True
        oTimer.Start()
        If oTimer Is Nothing Then
            MsgBox("oTimer is Nothing")
        End If

        Dim oForm2 As New Form2
        oForm2.Show()
    End Sub

    Private Sub timerTicks() Handles oTimer.Tick
        Me.Text = Date.Now
        Module1.sTime = Date.Now
    End Sub

End Class

Create a form2 :

Public Class Form2

    Private Sub Form2_Load(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load

    End Sub
    Private Sub updateme() Handles Me.MouseDown
        Me.Text = Module1.sTime
        Me.Refresh()
    End Sub
End Class

Now create Module.vb.

Module Module1
    Public sTime As String
End Module

Here is how my solution explorer looks like this.

Alright, my code is really stupid, I know! But I only wanted to show you something very interesting.
On form1, there is a timer running over and over. Every second, it displays the time.  In fact, is nothing more than a simple clock. But the clock saves the time in Module1.sTime
Now, imagine I have another called form2. That second form would like get the timer value but it can’t directly. There is no methods to give the information, the variable is private, no heritage, NOTHING!!!!

Is time to use the Module. The advantage is that Modules are “available everywhere” at any time the module variables, properties, methods are also accessible as long there are public. That is all. Just keep that in mind.

So run your code, when your hold down your mouse button over the form2, it reads the value inside Module1. You could pass any object from one class to another simply by using a module.

By the way, feel  free to change your code and make it suitable for you:

    Private Sub Form1_Load(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
        Dim oForm2 As Form2
        Try alway try to put code that might crash in a try-catch
            oTimer = New System.Windows.Forms.Timer
            With oTimer
                .Interval = 1000
                .Enabled = True
                .Start()
            End With
           If oTimer Is Nothing Then MsgBox("oTimer is Nothing")
            oForm2 = New Form2
            oForm2.Show()
        Catch ex As Exception
            MsgBox("ERRRRRROR !!!! " & vbCrLf & ex.Message) idiot! you made a error
        End Try
    End Sub

Another Day And The Fog Rolls Back In A Little

I was feeling so good last night, as my blogging activity made clear. I actually slept past my usual time for 500 mg acetaminophen dosage this morning. This alone is an improvement for which Im quite grateful.

However, once I completed the physically demanding activity of showering and getting dressed, the anesthetic fog rolled back in, and I accomplished nothing this morning. Im feeling a little better now, but it is definitely a series of wins and loses each day to get myself back to where I was.

Update: I have noticed that I am sometimes dizzy in the mornings; perhaps because these medicines designed to keep my blood pressure low until all of the repairs have been completed are an issue, or perhaps because I belong on all four hooves.

Tiffany Co Celebrates 175 Years As The Jeweler of True Love

The engagement ring as we know it today is the creation of Tiffany & Co., the world’s diamond authority and jeweler of true love. With the introduction of the famous Tiffany® Setting in 1886, founder Charles Lewis Tiffany started a trend that grew into a great tradition.

Previously, diamond rings were set in bezels. But Mr. Tiffany’s ring was designed to highlight the extraordinary beauty of brilliant-cut diamonds. The innovative setting of six platinum prongs lifted the stone off the band and into the light. The combination of stone and setting produces a ring of dazzling charisma, reflecting Tiffany’s reputation for the highest quality diamonds and design excellence.

Over time, more and more couples chose this breathtaking ring as the worthy symbol of their lifelong commitment. To this day, it is the most sought-after symbol of love, with a legacy that has been celebrated in film, art and literature.

The poetry and romance of these great works are wrapped along with the ring in the famous Tiffany Blue Box®. Its presentation signals a magical moment that will linger in memory for a lifetime.

The Tower

HTC One V

It was during one of my macro shooting sessions recently, when I just walked out of the Butterfly Park and making my way to the Masjid Jamek LRT station, I encountered the view of KL Tower from afar. I only had my macro lens with my E-5 for the day, because my sole purpose was to shoot macro, and nothing else. I needed to move around as light as possible, hence I did not bother packing other lenses. Then I realized there is another camera with a wide angle lens that was with me all the time, on my mobile phone of course.

The Broken Marbles Short Film by Hp楊鴻鵬

Hi Readers! Welcome to April! Today I am going to share with you guys my latest short film which I did in early March this year. The short film title called ‘Broken Marbles’.

A couple of week back, I received the storyline from my friend’s Darren Sim who studied in Singapore Management University (SMU), and hence this is a short film in Bahasa Indonesia language. My first impression of the storyboard was meaningful, therefore I agreed to direct and produce this Bahasa Indonesia film for the SMU students.

Likewise, I had a great moment filming with the SMU students under the blazing weather and glad that I managed to film everything in a day. Check out some of our behind-the-scene photos here! ^^

This is a kind of detective and investigation film regarding an incident happened at Bedok Reservoir. Without further do, let’s sit back and enjoy the ‘Broken Marbles’ Short Film below here. I don’t dare to say it is the perfect short film but still hope you will like it. *Smiles*
